About us

It’s a family affairimg_macmo

A cake-decorating family-run partnership, macmocakes is owned by dynamic duo Sophia MacCarthy-Morrogh and her brother Nick. Together they ensure that you get “all the cakes you need, all of the time”. Here’s how macmocakes came to be, and why no other cake-making business comes close. If you need a cake, and if you can find them… (I feel a theme tune coming on).

Nick
Before teaming up with his sister to discover the delights of cake-making, Nick MacCarthy-Morrogh was happily running restaurants, where his degree in Business & Finance combined perfectly with his love of food. These days he’s graduated from the main course to dessert, and can be found at the business end of macmocakes, organising the day-to-day operations, and making sure that the world knows that a new force in cake-making is in town, and her name is…

Sophia
Sophia MacCarthy-Morrogh, who originally graduated in Printed Textiles from the Edinbugrh College of Art, freelanced for four years creating beautiful handmade accessories. Not convinced she’d found her calling, a chance conversation at a party revealed the magical world of cake-decorating and led to a job with Konditor and Cook. Sophia was soon working with industry pioneers like Peggy Porschen and Janine Rose, cake-makers to the stars. Her natural creative flair and dedication led rapidly to the position of Chief Decorator. Now, with years of experience and a desire to push the possibilities even further, Sophia has returned to Scotland with younger brother Nick to launch macmocakes. She can usually be found at the business end of a piping bag.
